Friends of Belmar Harbor (FOBH) is excited to announce our High Performance Summer Sailing Clinics, a new training opportunity designed to help competitive sailors sharpen their skills ahead of the summer regatta season. These 2–3 day ocean-based clinics will bring world-class coaching and high-level training directly to Belmar Harbor, offering sailors a chance to elevate their performance on the water.

Elite International Coaching Team: FOBH has assembled an elite international coaching lineup with extensive competitive and coaching experience at the highest levels of sailing:

  • Javier Ojeda Suarez – Two-time Spanish Optimist National Champion and 12th place finisher at the Optimist World Championship.

  • Jimena Gonzalez Real – Uruguay National Team Coach, Optimist Worlds competitor, and 29er Youth Worlds competitor.

  • Eduardo Reyes Alcocer – Two-time Spanish medalist and competitor at the 29er World Championship.

These accomplished coaches will provide hands-on instruction and tactical insight drawn from international competition and elite youth development programs.

Boats Supported: The clinics are open to sailors competing in several popular performance classes, including:

  • Optimist

  • ILCA

  • 420

  • 29er

  • Melges 15

This wide range of supported boats allows sailors from developing racers to advanced youth competitors to benefit from the program.

Training Focus Areas: Each clinic will focus on the key skills that separate good sailors from great racers:

  • Boat speed and tuning

  • Advanced boat handling

  • Starts and race strategy

  • Regatta preparation

Training sessions will take place on the open ocean off Belmar, giving sailors valuable experience in real racing conditions while receiving direct coaching and feedback.

Prepare for Summer Regattas: The High Performance Clinics are designed to help sailors prepare for summer regattas and championship racing. With small training groups, personalized coaching, and intensive on-the-water sessions, participants will leave with practical skills they can immediately apply in competition.

Spots for these clinics are limited and expected to fill quickly. Sailors and families interested in participating can learn more and register through the FOBH Summer Camp program.
