Interscholastic Racing on the Shark River
The Friends of Belmar Harbor’s High School racing, has a new initiative that goes beyond competition to impact our Shark River community. Local high school sailing teams not only practice and compete locally in Monmouth and Ocean County but also have the chance to qualify and participate in District and National Championships. The benefits extend beyond the thrill of the race, fostering a healthier outlet for youth.
FOBH plans to opens up sailing opportunities for 7th to 12th-grade students from both public and private schools during the spring and fall seasons. Local high school teams can join forces as members of the New Jersey Interscholastic Sailing Association (NJISA), contributing to the Mid-Atlantic Scholastic Sailing Association (MASSA) district under the Interscholastic Sailing Association (ISSA).
FOBH hopes to offer avenue at Maclaire Park for high school racing on the Shark River in Belmar, NJ. This page serves as a valuable resource, offering information on upcoming regattas. For newly formed high school teams, FOBH is a guiding hand, assisting with aspects such as registration, gear requirements, coaching, and more.
