Once again, the Neptune High School NJROTC cadets worked hard this fall in removing the boats from the dock. They also completely emptied the FOBH-SRSSA boat yard, trimmed the weeds and reorganized it. Rusty, our dockmaster disposed of old unrepairable boats and other items. The result is a much better organized boat yard with more space.
Both our Boston Whalers received brand new outboard engines this fall. This keeps the boats in reliable condition when used by coaches and are used as safety boats by SRSSA and for membership boating.
Please see the "about section" of the website. We are very fortunate to welcome several new board members who will provide wonderful leadership to the organization.
We welcome Wendel Thomas into the roll of President of the board of trustees. And welcome back Rich Allen as Vice-President.
We say good-bye to long time board member and President, Eric Krause. Eric has been on the board since 2014 and President since 2017. Fair Winds and Following Seas to Eric as he spends more time on his
32 foot coastal sail boat. Wave hello to him if you see the green hulled sailboat named "Priority".
This summer, both SRSSA educational activities and FOBH membership was effected by the Covid 19 environment. The success of Shark River Sailing and Science Academy was due to the protocols developed by our staff, and unfortunately the need to canceled regattas, social events and limiting the size of our membership. It is hoped that 2022 will be a return to normal and be a very active season.
The FOBH board and the senior staff wants to thank
Ocean First bank who rewarded FOBH with money for scholarships, these scholarships will be offered to lower income families.
We are thrilled and honored to announce that FOBH – SRSSA has been awarded West Marine’s Blue Future Grant. It is an honor to have been one of twenty seven organizations in the U.S. to receive this award. The Blue Future Grant, which is dedicated to waterlife recreation and education is very much in line with our mission. See https://www.westmarine.com/BlueFuture
We are also very appreciative to receive a generous grant from Ocean First Bank. Ocean First Bank is a longtime supporter of FOBH – SRSSA and of youth sailing and education along the Jersey Shore. http://www.oceanfirstfdn.org/
