My journey with sailing began at FOBH in 2003, where I instantly fell in love with the sport. The freedom and control it offered captivated me, and from that moment on, sailing became an integral part of my life

I started competing for FOBH in Optis and 420s before expanding my racing career to local yacht clubs up and down the East Coast. At the same time, I dedicated myself to giving back—volunteering for FOBH, assisting with inner-city programs, and helping run regattas. I also worked at several yacht clubs, teaching sailing and racing on Barnegat Bay. During high school, I took the initiative to establish my school’s sailing team at MAST, further solidifying my passion for the sport.

I went on to attend Roger Williams University, where I double-majored in marine biology and environmental science while competing at the varsity level for four years. Training alongside some of the best collegiate sailors in the country pushed me to grow both as an athlete and as a leader on the water.

Beyond competing, I was driven to make sailing more accessible to diverse communities. I co-founded a nonprofit sailing program that not only ran summer camps but also launched outreach initiatives, including programs for the Special Olympics, individuals in drug recovery and rehabilitation, inner-city youth, and families in shelters.

Over the years, I’ve taught sailing to people of all ages, from 7 to 75, and coached junior, high school, and college racing teams. While coaching has been a major focus, I still compete when I can—most recently in the U.S. Women’s Match Racing National Championship in 2019 and 2023.I am currently a level 3 US sailing instructor as well.

Sailing has shaped so much of my life, even leading me to my husband—I first met him while coaching his brother’s race team.

Today, I teach biology at a high school near Baltimore, Maryland, and serve as the camp director for a nonprofit sailing program in Havre de Grace, Maryland. Coaching sailing is more than just a job for me; it’s a way to inspire and empower others. The sport teaches responsibility, decision-making, teamwork, confidence, and resilience—skills that extend far beyond the water. Watching my students grow, both as sailors and as individuals, is the most rewarding part of my work.
