1.1 The regatta will be governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS). Appendix S will apply.
1.2 RRS 61 is changed to require a competitor to inform the race committee’s finish boat of her intention to protest, including the sail number of the protested boat, immediately after finishing.
1.3 RRS 63.7 is replaced with: “If there is a conflict between a rule in the notice of race and one in the sailing instructions, the sailing instructions shall apply.”
Eligibility and Entry
2.1 The regatta is open to Optimist Prams, skippered by junior sailors 7 to 15 years of age at the time of the first race, and also Club 420’s, Laser Radials, Laser 4.7’s, Sunfish and RS Feva’s, skippered and crewed by junior sailors who have not reached their 19th birthday in the 2018 calendar year.
2.2 The Optimist class will be divided into a Green Fleet, and Red, Blue, and White fleet. The Green Fleet will have a separate course. The Red, Blue, and White divisions will be based on the sailors’ age on the day of the regatta. Green Fleet 1st & 2nd year sailors; Red Fleet 13 to 15 years old; Blue Fleet 11 & 12 years old; White Fleet 10 and under.
2.3 Entry to the regatta will be limited based on the first 80 RWB Opti and 20 Opti Green fleet contestants to register.
2.4 A minimum of 3 boats in a fleet is required.
3.1 Pre-registration is required. Registration forms will be available online at the regatta web site:
3.2 The required fees are $30.00 for single-handed boats, and $60.00 for double-handed boats.
3.3 The fee includes lunch, a t-shirt for all contestants. All contestants will receive complimentary chances for the raffle tables.
3.4 Registration fees received after August 13, 2018 is subject to an additional late fee of $20.
3.5 Registration closes August 16, 2018; there will be no on-site registration.
3.6 All payments must be received by August 16, 2018

5.1 Sailing Instructions will be available on line and at check-in.
The Shark River Beach & Yacht Club hosts the event at its clubhouse at 360 South Riverside Drive, Neptune, New Jersey 07753. The racing area will be east of the Shark River Beach & Yacht Club on the Shark River.
The courses used will be windward/leeward, triangle, modified Olympic and Course 2. See Addendum 1.
8.1 Low point scoring system of Appendix A will apply. If more than five races are completed, each boat’s worst score will be excluded from her series score. This changes Rule A2.
9.1 Support boats will not be allowed to launch using the Shark River Beach & Yacht Club ramp or hoists after 9:00 AM on August 11th. All those launching before 10:00 AM will have to move their car and trailer to a designated area to allow for access to the ramp and hoists.
9.2 Team Leaders, coaches and all other support personal shall not enter the racing area during the period beginning
3 minutes before the start of any race and ending after the finish of the last boat, or when the RC signals a postponement, general recall or abandonment.
9.3 All support boats shall comply with instructions from the Race Committee.
9.4 All support boats shall obey requests of Official Safety Boats, relating to the location of Support Boats with respect to competitors. The Race Committee may request assistance from Support Boats without any penalty. This changes Rule 41.
10.1 Awards will be made to all individual fleets commensurate with the number of entrants. Ex) 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
Responsibility for Safety
Sailing is an activity that has an inherent risk of damage and injury. Competitors in this event are participating entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organizers (organizing authority, race committee, protest committee, host club, sponsors, and any other organization or official) will not be responsible for damage to any boat or other property or the injury to any competitor, including death, sustained as a result of participation in this event. By participating in this event, each competitor agrees to release the race officers from any and all liability associated with such competitor’s participation in this event to the fullest extent permitted by law.
